Review

Steve Carell (The 40-Year-Old Virgin), reprising his role as the polished, preening newscaster Evan Baxter of Bruce Almighty, is the next one anointed by God to accomplish a holy mission in the hilarious new comedy Evan Almighty. Blockbuster comedy director Tom Shadyac (The Nutty Professor, Liar Liar, Bruce Almighty) returns behind the camera for this next episode of divine intervention. This time, however, his cast grows two-by-two.

Newly elected to Congress, Evan leaves Buffalo behind and shepherds his family to suburban northern Virginia. Once there, his life gets turned upside-down when God (Morgan Freeman) appears and mysteriously commands him to build an ark. But his befuddled family just can't decide whether Evan is having an extraordinary mid-life crisis or is truly onto something of Biblical proportions...

I liked this movie a lot. All the actors were did a good job and pulled you in as well. Also, I liked the cleaner side of comedy this film presents as opposed to "Bruce Almighty." (it's predecessor). I think that the movie is awesome for family viewers who do not like inappropriate material. Besides one or two naughty words the movie was absolutely clean and very family oriented. Going into the movie I thought it would be more like "Bruce Almighty," but was surprised by the cleanness.

this film is brilliant, i love jim carrey but i feel most of these reviews are biased on the fact it doesnt star him.

the film is funny in all the right places, i was expecting a cheesy childrens film but it applies to all ages. i would give it 4 star but because of all the silly reviews im giving it 5.

Although this was definitely not as good as Bruce Almighty it did have it's funny moments. Steve Carrell is a brilliant comedy actor. You only have to watch 40 Year Old Virgin to know this. This is more a family fun film. Worth watching if you liked the first, if you didn't don't bother.
