There are some awesome tracks on this album such as 'World Long Gone' and 'They Say' but the rest of the album just sounds pretty much the same. Don't get me wrong, I love Scars On Broadway, I just guess I was expecting too much from these guys too soon.

After hearing the shock of System Of A Down's 'breakt-up',No-one really knew what to expect. 4 Months later, Serj Tankian's Debut album Elect The Dead hit the charts, the pristine brutality of the guitar sounds will certainly give his former System partner Daron Malakian something to think about.

Then! Scars on Broadway.. The self-titled debut album from System of a Down guitarist Daron Malakian and drummer John Dolmayan, is a mixed bag of terrific songs and forgettable filler. Totaling 15 tracks . The album resembles a collection of snippets, sometimes evolving into indelibly melodic hard rock and sometimes failing to leave much of an impact. A New look from Malakian show's that while System were at times progressive and political, this album keeps to the point with its sheer head-banging thrills, and basic Lyrics.

A good so called "Side-Project", but 'Scars On Broadway' has the potential to become the new SOAD.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Surely an album worth reviewing.

This is one of the best albums ive bought in a long time. After serj's amazing debut solo album and now this, i wont complain if soad dont get back 2gether for a while now.

Always loved SOAD - And I appreciate this isn't a system release -but expected more from this album - maybe too much.

Besides the songs: Chemicals, World long gone and Enemy- the rest of the album seems repetitive with very little thought process prior to the making of the album.

It's a shame, but there's always a next time...

Outstanding record from former soad members. After the disappointment of 'hypnotize' this is great music. Buy it!

I was not sure what to expect and must admit as a S.O.A.D fan the first time i listened to this album i was a bit dissapointed but decided to leave the album in the car stereo and give it a chance.

You have to give this a few listens before you appreciate how good it is, i love the album now and highly recommend it and you must also get serj's album Elect The Dead.

Can't wait for S.O.A.D to get back together and bring us another dose of there incredible music

Children of Rock! Buy this album it's immense. I too LOVE System of A Down. I also love Serj's new album Elect the Dead. Infact any music these guys produce makes me very excited indeed. They are so talented, diverse and original!

However music like this makes me drive fast and sing loudly at traffic lights. Get involed!

I've never been a SOAD fan, mainly because I've never listened to them. However when I saw how much Kerrang! magazine hyped this album I had to give the single 'They Say' a listen, such a catchy song, it had me hurrying to buy this album straight away... literally! And I tell you what I think it's bloody fantastic! There's not a bad song on it and it keeps you entertained from start to finish, seriously there's something for every rock fan here.
Recently I was in France for 2 weeks and this album was constantly played through my MP3 player I couldn't get enough of it. So if you ask me, this is strongly reccommended!

Top 100 Music Reviewer

It's to its detriment that this CD is being compared to System of a Down. Get over it people. It's not a SOAD release. Judging it on it's own merits and not as an extension of an already established band is the way to go, and on that basis this is without doubt one of the stronger debuts that has come out of this genre of music this year.
The vocals are strong, the material is well crafted and the attention to melody is to the fore. As a stand alone release Darren Malakian and John Dolmayan have created a body of work they can be proud of.

Amazing, but in a bad way im afraid. As a big fan of System I was hoping that this would be an excellent listen, I was wrong. Yet again a band I love prove that when they part, for whatever reason, the parts are just not as good as whole. The sooner System get their act back together the better. Im amazed by just how bad this album really is, Daron should save his voice for the odd interlude or song on an album as a whole album of his voice gets really irritating. I must admit I was also expecting something far heavier than this too. Daron has written some amazing, memorable riffs in his time and all I can hope is that he is saving them up for the next System album. As for the lyrics, well they seem to be just obvious rhymes, devoid of any sort of meaning, not that a song needs to have meaning, but they just seem like inane rantings to me. I've given it 2 stars basically because I dont have the heart to give it one, but make no mistake, this is poor quality stuff, shame, but there we go.
